Fairground London presents Makers, 6th December 2014

A one off celebration of London’s vibrant Maker Movement featuring some of the capitals finest talent across music, food, drinks and retail. Housed in Fairground’s temporary home in a disused office block in Haggerston, a bespoke programme for both day and night will showcase the very best thinkers and tinkerers for a jam packed taste of the makers movement across three floors.

Each level by day will have a distinctive theme, starting at Level One will be a Makers Market, showcasing some of the best artisanal creators, artists, producers and brands. Level Two and the Makers Lounge will provide an opportunity for physical exploration with a diverse programme of workshops. Top floor and the Makers Kitchen on Level Three will see a carefully crafted menu by critically acclaimed Ben Spalding using handmade ingredients cherry-picked by Hackney Hampers. Makers Evening will see the ground floor switch up to a line up of talks, live bands and DJs supported with drinks, food and beats to while away the evening.


Makers Lounge will present a series of 18 different workshops from innovative papers crafts with paper ninja Poppy Chancellor, Get Rich or Tie-Dying the brand new inventive workshop with Lizzie King or get green fingered creating your very own indoor terrarium or plant biosphere with Botanic Boutique. Makers Market by day on Level One will feature 15 cherry-picked stallholders that represent the best in handcrafted talented across the capital; including handmade tweed products by London’s only micro-mill London Cloth Company, a bespoke local deli featuring hand crafted produce from across the borough curated by Hackney Hamper and east London’s leading illustrative shop Nobrow featuring some of the talented artists in books, prints and other fine collectables.


A fantastic food & drink offering, with top chef talent Ben Spalding creating a seasonal menu priced between £4-£8 on Floor 3 using ingredients from Hackney Hampers. Signature dishes include Black Hand Pork Belly cooked in Dalston coca cola, Turkey ramen, noodles, runny egg, cranberries and potato or Whipped mince pie, Butler gin syrup with brandy ice-cream. Floor 2 will see a bespoke a whisky and meat pairing menu. While down on the first floor we’ll be creating a hot cocktails and dessert bar.


Markers Evening will include live acts with a short immersive art experience from Lost Labs, a surprise live act and well known DJ (final artist names TBA shortly).
